We design things and make them come to life.
Type/Code is a studio of designers and developers who invent, communicate, build, and refine. We collaborate with ambitious clients who want to bring powerful ideas to life.
We find clever solutions to hard problems. We love to immerse ourselves in new domains. We strive to make complicated things beautifully intuitive and powerfully functional.

Some teams we've collaborated with
Partner, Lead Developer
Lev is a Russia-born, NYC-raised developer who’s been building websites and applications for several years. He studied Design & Technology at Parsons School of Design, where his fascination with interactive visual things transformed into a passion for bringing them to life through code. Lev now teaches classes at Parsons when he can sneak away from Type/Code, and his most recent interest has him fine-tuning a number of delicious Stir Fry dishes.
Partner, Creative Director
Don’t let his psych degree from Princeton fool you – Ian’s a creative through and through. He’s got a decade of interaction and graphic design experience under his belt, and it’s perfectly complemented by his studies at the intersection of behavioral economics, consumer psychology and branding. Before partnering up at Type/Code, he led design projects for some of the nation’s leading architects, like Michael Graves, Richard Meier and KPF.
Founding Partner, Creative Director
Zeke has been designing digital experiences for over ten years, with projects ranging from consumer and enterprise web applications to digital brand experiences, for both ambitious start-ups and Fortune 500 companies. When he’s not drafting product flows on the whiteboard or pushing pixels around, Zeke can be found screen printing, beer brewing, rock climbing and backpacking.
Founding Partner, Technical Director
With nearly a decade of experience building software, Andrew loves crafting clean, scalable code that’s as elegant as the user interface it supports. While he’s well-versed in building business-focused products, his favorite projects explore ways to bring art to life through technology. He’s an efficiency fiend, too, whether he’s leading development on a big project, setting up a new server, or racing one of his many bikes. (Don’t get him started.)
Senior Frontend Developer
Alex is a passionate software developer from Minsk, Belarus, who’s addicted to being on the cutting edge of technology. Having a MS degree in Computer Science, he loves to bring life into software components by leveraging experimental approaches as well as time-honored ones. Alex is an advocate of free, open and accessible knowledge - that's why he is fond of teaching, as much as he loves programming. Off-hours, Alex can be found studying all sorts of engineering stuff, playing guitar and watching Science Fiction.
Matt is a software developer from Bethesda, MD who came to New York by way of Cleveland (where he stopped at Case Western Reserve University to earn a BS in Computer Science) to build backend C++ services for Bloomberg, LP. Matt eventually moved on to pursue his entrepreneurial spirit and helped co-found and build a platform that helps small charities raise money on the web. Once he saw the view from the Type/Code studio, he never left. When he's not coding, Matt likes running, drinking tea, reading, and making turkey sandwiches.
Laura is the newest addition to Type/Code. She brings with her an experience-full life spent traveling and working in New York, Los Angeles, Boston, Tokyo, Beijing, and beyond. Her early focus in East Asian Studies and Chinese strongly influences her design sense and business approach. Having worked in finance, doc films, photography and the non-profit world, in multi-cultural and multi-lingual environments, Laura’s diverse background has made her well equipped to approach challenges and envision opportunities from a wide range of perspectives.
Digital Art Director
During most of her time in the field, Erica has explored the relationship between narrative and design, with an emphasis on storytelling through the web. For her, design is about packaging information into meaningful events. Before joining Type/Code, Erica worked as a designer at Pentagram—creating integrated, multimedia brand experiences. Prior to working with Pentagram, she worked at the Yale University School of Medicine as a brand identity consultant for private sectors within the university.
